You should still go back and read Part 1, but if you think about it you'll see why it's only sensible that publishers get paid only half of the cover price of the books...the bookstores have to have a profit margin.

Publishers do NOT sell books to readers. Publishers are wholesalers who sell books to retailers, who sell books to readers.
