Book meme: Day 05
Jul. 25th, 2010 01:07 pmI am so freaking tired today.
Day 05 - A book or series you hate
Ugh, where do I begin? I hate pretty much everything I had to read in junior high and high school. Yeah, yeah, people who love the English language appreciate "classic" literature. Bull pucky. It all bored the crap out of me and still does. The closest I got to reading something exciting in high school was in an acting course, when I read The Children's Hour (and teamed up with a friend in the class to perform the last scene for our final project).
...you know, I wrote up about 2,000 words about books I hate, and reading through it just really depressed me. So I'll go with the most recent book I hated: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I wrote about it in this entry, and I keep talking about it with people who say they want to read it. I am astonished by some of the reviews I read of this book -- this is not an original book. It's predictable. It's cliched. And it's full of really graphic sexual assaults, rapes, and torture-murders. Enough already.
(In case you're wondering, I cleansed my reading palate by picking up first The Hunger Games, and now three different Nora Roberts books, and after that I'll probably read some L. M. Montgomery!)
As usual, if you're doing the book meme (or you just want to talk about your most hated book or series!), free to either comment on this entry with your answers, or link to a post you make to your own blog/journal.
